The Smart Village app is part of the “Smart Social Hub” project of the Municipalities of Pula and Teulada, to enable residents and non-resident tourists to easily access medical care and remote support, improving emergency management and quality of life in hamlets located far from the Municipalities themselves.

The app content will continue to evolve, including socio-educational functions to improve the autonomy of older adults, support children’s education, and promote innovation and collaboration among residents, as well as innovative sports initiatives such as birdwatching and orienteering, and location-based games such as geocaching. These services offer opportunities for socialization, recreation and enhancement of local natural resources, promoting a sense of community and well-being.

The intervention is funded by GAL SULCIS IGLESIENTE CAPOTERRA E CAMPIDANO DI CAGLIARI PSR Sardinia 2014-2022, LOCAL ACTION PLAN “QUALITY AND SUSTAINABILITY FOR AN INTEGRATED RURAL DISTRICT”, OPERATION 19.2.12 SMART VILLAGE – ESSENTIAL SERVICES FOR THE RURAL POPULATION – SUPPORT FOR INVESTMENTS AIMED AT THE INTRODUCTION, IMPROVEMENT OR EXPANSION OF BASIC SERVICES AT LOCAL LEVEL INCLUDING CULTURAL AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES AND RELATED INFRASTRUCTURE. The main features of the app are:

  • “Save a Life”: emergency button that activates a teleconsultation through a phone call with healthcare operators or local contacts;
  • multimedia socio-educational content (texts, audio, video, images);
  • geolocation and assisted navigation along routes;
  • proximity interaction (Beacon): interaction with strategic points of the territory to activate proximity content.
